A good friend of ours, DJ BFG (aka Gabriel Squailia), asked us to help him come up with a design for some shirts. He didn’t have any specific ideas–he just knew he wanted them to look cool and have an old-school feel to them. His DJ name, BFG, stands for many different things, but we focused on one name: Beats For Geeks. We created this image based on the Technics 1200 turntables which feature red flashing lights around the outside rim of the turntable. This is a feature that DJs are familiar with–a “geeky” little trade secret, if you will–even if you and I are not. This became the basis of the repeating design and we were able to work the “BFG” into the design and incorporate the retro feel with the typeface. In addition, we printed the nicknames on the shirts as well. For men: “Beats For Geeks” and for women: “Booty Focused Grooves”.
