Michelle Lewis, singer-songwriter from the Boston area, contacted us to design her latest EP, Broken. She wanted an intimate, feminine look to the album, so the lace image and the cursive typeface were paired to express this feeling. The layered print technique of the blue ink over the transparent cream ink gives the design depth, and the use of the lace motif on the lyric insert carries the visual theme through. Michelle loved the idea of each CD being a piece of art and asked us to number each case. Additionally, Michelle’s boyfriend shot some black and white photos of her, one of which we included on the inside of the CD case. The image is printed on cream paper, cut and hand glued to the inside cover, furthering the intimate feel of the album artwork as well as Michelle’s music.
